Patricia Napoli Avelino is a Licensed Social Worker in New Jersey. Patricia received her Bachelor’s degree from Boston College where she majored in Psychology with a minor in Education. Patricia then obtained her Masters in Social Work from Rutgers University with a Specialization in Children and Adolescents. Patricia is currently working towards obtaining her LCSW and plans to pursue a doctorate in Social Work.
Patricia provides therapy services to children, adolescents, young adults, and adults. She helps her patients manage anxiety, depression, stress, low self-esteem, behavioral difficulties, adjustment-related issues, health issues, high-conflict divorces, difficult life experiences, relationships, and trauma.. Together, Patricia guides her clients towards understanding the root causes of issues and how best to use coping skills to heal.
Patricia encourages a safe, authentic, and accepting environment, while promoting a collaborative process with her patients. Patricia tends to implement a person-centered approach, consistently meeting the needs of each patient in a nonjudgmental, supportive way. She designs her sessions using theoretical approaches such as a strengths-based outlook, mindfulness, cognitive-behavioral therapy techniques, internal family systems and a trauma-informed perspective.
In addition, Patricia has extensive experience working with teens and their families as a mental health clinician in a school setting. She also has experience working in a child and adolescent inpatient unit, as well as at a dual diagnosis program for adults with substance and mental health challenges at Summit Oaks Hospital.
Furthermore, Patricia is a certified nutritionist and is invested in an integrative approach to mental health. Patricia has previously worked for an integrative doctor who emphasized the mind and body connection when dealing with mental health issues.
In her free time Patricia spends time with her four young adult/teen children, likes to practice yoga and travel.
