Kathleen “Katie” McLaren is a Licensed Associate Counselor in the state of New Jersey. She earned her Bachelor’s in Psychology from Sacred Heart University and her Master’s in Counseling Psychology from Felician University. Katie is currently pursuing licensure as a professional counselor under the supervision of an LPC.
Katie provides therapy services to children, adolescents, and adults through individual, couples, and family therapy. She takes an optimistic, client-centered, empowering approach to help clients lean into their discomfort and build tolerance to difficult emotions and experiences. She aims to provide all of her clients with the tools of self-compassion, radical acceptance and self-awareness as they navigate through whatever life circumstances they face. Katie has experience with a wide range of clients and offers support for a multitude of issues. These include but are not limited to eating disorders, body-dysmorphia, personality disorders, anxiety, depression, behavioral issues, and trauma.
In addition to her work at the Center for Specialized Psychology, Katie is a Primary Therapist at the Center for Discovery, where she treats clients struggling with eating disorders at the higher level of care.
