Emily Sanocki

graduate counseling trainee

Emily is a graduate counseling student in the Mental Health and Wellness Counseling program at New York University’s Steinhardt School of Culture, Education, and Human Development. She is currently completing her clinical training under the supervision of a LCSW at the Center for Specialized Psychology.

Emily works with adolescents and adults as she strives to create a warm, collaborative therapeutic space where clients feel safe exploring their experiences and relationships. She believes therapy offers an opportunity to slow down, reflect, and develop a deeper understanding of the stories we carry about ourselves.

Emily's therapeutic approach includes an integration of narrative therapy, cognitive behavioral therapy (CBT), acceptance and commitment therapy (ACT), and psychodynamic perspectives. She aims to help clients explore how past experiences and internal beliefs influence current challenges while also developing practical tools for managing anxiety, stress, and life transitions. Emily approaches therapy through a trauma-informed and strengths-based lens and is particularly interested in supporting individuals as they process difficulties and reconnect with their resilience.

You may be seeking therapy because you feel overwhelmed by anxiety, are processing difficult past experiences, or notice patterns in your life or relationships that no longer feel helpful. Emily works collaboratively with clients to build insight, strengthen coping skills, and move toward lives that feel more aligned with their values.
