Alicia Maldonado is a Predoctoral Psychology Intern, pursuing her Doctor of Psychology (Psy.D.) degree in Counseling Psychology at Saint Elizabeth University. She has already completed one year of her predoctoral internship and is awaiting completion of her dissertation before transiting into her postdoctoral residency role. She works directly under the supervision of a licensed psychologist. Alicia also obtained her Master of Arts in Clinical Psychology from Montclair State University, and is a Licensed Associate Counselor in the state of New Jersey.
Alicia provides individual, couples and family therapy, and has worked with children, adolescents and adults. She has experience treating a wide range of mental health struggles, including anxiety, depression, trauma, mood disturbances, as well as general life stressors and life cycle transitions. She helps her patients reach their ultimate treatment goals through empowerment, self-discovery, and self-acceptance. Alicia focuses on helping her patients understand why they are struggling now by gaining insight into their past, as well as provide them with tools that can help them function more effectively. In addition, Alicia has experience providing psychotherapy and consultation to an inpatient population with neurological diseases and traumatic injuries, to address behavioral and emotional impairments.
Moreover, Alicia provides parent education to new parents on child development, from prenatal to 3 years old. Alicia also offers early intervention services to children aged 0 to 3, with a focus on helping children with developmental delays.
Alicia incorporates interventions from a variety of modules, such as CBT, ACT, TF-CBT, Person-Centered Therapy, and Play Therapy to assist her patients in achieving maximum treatment success. She also conducts psychological and psychoeducational assessments.
