Allyson Capotorto is a Licensed Social Worker and Certified Mental Health Screener in the state of New Jersey. She received her Bachelor's degree in Psychology and Master’s degree in Social Work from Rutgers University. Allyson is currently working toward obtaining her Licensed Clinical Social Worker credentials under the supervision of an LCSW.
Allyson provides therapy services for children, adolescents, and adults. She provides treatment to individuals and families using an integrated approach tailored to the unique needs of each client. Allyson has worked in a variety of treatment settings and with diverse client populations and has experience working in emergency crisis intervention, community-based settings, and both inpatient and outpatient care.
Allyson’s areas of expertise for therapy include mood and behavioral disorders, anxiety disorders, personality disorders, substance use disorders, trauma-related disorders, and psychotic disorders. She approaches treatment from the theoretical foundations of Attachment and Humanistic theory and incorporates techniques from various treatment modalities based on her clients’ therapeutic goals, including Psychodynamic Therapy, Cognitive Behavioral Therapy, Dialectical Behavior Therapy, and Mindfulness-based Therapy.
Allyson believes that positive change happens when people are provided with an environment of empathetic understanding and unconditional, non-judgmental support to work towards mutually identified goals.
